So Ive been nicked for 37 in a 30 Plod say I can go on a speed aware course. I will have to pay ,but no points or fine. But I will still have to inform insurance,and no doubt they will increase my premium . Has anyone opted for the course and had an increase in insurance. If so by how much and how long for. My question really is ,is the difference between the two alternatives,the points ?

Only recently some insurance companies have actually started asking about speed awareness courses. Otherwise, if they don't ask...

Most don't, hence why a SAC is a desirable alternative to points.

Even if they ask, don't tell them. The only way someone can find out if you've been on a speed awareness course is if you tell them. (Outside of the police force)

There is no database that any company can access that tells them otherwise.

Insurance companies generally leave you alone if you don't crash. They like people who don't crash.
