Taxi cab air freshener

Just something that has been bugging me, I've always wanted to know the answer.

What is 'that' air freshener that taxi cabs use? You know the one, it's quite a sweet smell, no doubt there to cover up the smell of beer and sick. I've had people suggest it was a vanilla air freshener before, but it wasn't that. I've asked taxi drivers before, but they don't know, they just say it's the stuff the valeters use.

Anyone know what the actual fragrance/product is, and where I can get it?

It'll be an agent used by the valetting companies I would have thought, rather than an air freshener.

More importantly, what is the generic perfume that strippers use? And why is it amusing when you smell it on a girl who has no idea.

It's used at my work in doorways, in the morning it's reminded me of taxis..... Could be something totally different though.

It's not Feu Orange, I don't think that stuff is made anymore (you can still get it if you pay over the odds on Ebay!).

You misinterpret.

Over the years I've sat in meetings in London and for example, the inhouse lawyer walks in and she is wearing what clearly smells like generic stripper perfume but has absolutely no idea.

I often wonder whether the husband knows or has even bought it deliberately etc.

It's also entertaining to spot who else in the meeting has smelt it.

Could you not just buy a taxi plate and become a part time cabbie? The car will smell like a taxi in no time, plus you get to make money and meet new people.

I always thought the smell came from the forst of Christmas Tree things on the rear view mirror. Apparently, they don't all smell of pine despite being green and shaed like pine trees.

I don't think you will earn that much when your taxi has a 4.2L V8 upfront!

Anyway, the exact smell is Airwicks vanilla and magnolia candle. Though where you put a scented candle in your car, or why you'd want your car to smell like that, I'm not sure.
