I got my first RWD car a few weeks ago and after getting to know it a bit better I have decided that I need some training on how to drive it safely/faster! Done loads of bike track days, and last owned a fast car about 8 years ago (Scooby STI V) - I have discovered that this E60 M5 needs almost as much respect as my 175 rwhp bike. Driving the beast with DSC off in the rain seems to me like it is akin to having to manage the bike throttle from full lean mid corner to full upright ... respect required!

Looking for somewhere located from midlands to south coast to include skid pan, general handling, a few fast laps of something (and maybe some roadcraft), weekend preferred.

Loving it so far - awesome.

Another one for CAT Driver Training based at Millbrook Proving Ground. Colin is a very special instructor. I have done numerous courses with Colin at CAT.

I saw Mike Cooper give a talk at a PH-related event a while back, and what he was saying made a lot of sense: DriverTuition.com

Some good references there.

I have considered that the main reason I got a 4 door saloon instead of weekend only toy was to cater for the family trips (The Missus agrees - just did Paris & Spain a few weeks back with the family C4 Grand Picasso smile ) and feel that I need some roadcraft training primarily as I have sat behind practically everything on the road for years when driving (bikes are a bit different of course)...! I will develop on this over time with some more focused training. When I started riding motorbikes 15 years ago I did direct access and joined an advanced motorcyclist group straight away and I reckon that has pretty much kept me out of serious touble to this day .. hence my decision to go roadcraft and I expect to build upon my current skill set.

So, after reading what's on offer and making some enquiries today, for my first go at 'training' I have decided to go for 1 2 1 on the road performance course in my car with some car skid control as well ... the location/style suits me.

I'll be booking a day on this one: http://www.ridedrive.co.uk/performance-car-hpy03pm...

I'm now in a position to recommend Andy Morrison from experience - his contact details are on the HPC website.

John Lyon published a book last year through Haynes, so was definitely active then. Have a look at this quiz to see if you get on with his style of questions: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/road-safety/91...

Not sure if he still does 1-2-1 training but I've been taught by Gods Chauffeur aka Paul Ripley:
