I must be going mental.... basket case Mustang?

All, help me out, I think I'm going crazy. I have recently been thinking about my next toy when the landy goes, and at the moment I have an absolute max of £8k in the budget.
I was idly looking at what for me is an Iconic car and stumbled (somewhat surprisingly) across this, just in my budget:- http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/use...
Now, I always promised myself if I scratched the Yank Tank itch, it would HAVE to be a v8, and I despise the looks of that mid-90's - early 00's 'stang. So, I'm left with old classics like the above, or a circa 2005 modern "retro" looking car, both of which I like the look of.
So, looking at the above, am I mad to consider it? Could I really get it back on the road using any negotiated discount (would I get any money off)? Come on, some expert tell me a glaring reason why it wouldn't get an MOT and a new interior for under a grand (I have around £200 pcm spare from my car allowance for a fighting/ resto fund).

This is my thought. Wonder why they don't restore it, wonder if it's a basket case. They have another one up for £10k, which is a runner with MOT etc, just my chicken based budget won't stretch that far. 
MOT: as a 1967 car it will need to meet UK MOT rules. So orange indicators, separate from the brake/tail lights and separate from the front side-lights, for example. If this work hasn't already been done, you'll need to. My 67 coupe did't have a screenwash system so we had to add that too.
As a project for yourself, it might be fun (and no doubt frustrating too). If you want to pay someone else to do it, it might get expensive. However, prices on decent cars seem to be creeping up so you could still make money on it.
I suspect you'll struggle to find a Fastback project for a similar price.

Hmmm. A trip to the NL could well be in order. Looks like there is a large importer there, I wonder if it's something to do with the massive port in Rotterdam. but a mustang would be an awesome car imo

Really? Blimey my old man's fastback had a brand spanking new, fully fitted up Roush 427SR crate engine for less than 10 grand shipped a few years ago. Granted the exchange rate was more favourable back then, but even if it's 13 or 14 grand now it'd still make a standard remanufactured or reconditioned engine sound very expensive. Also, unless the old engine had thrown a rod through the block I can't imagine it'd cost that much for a total rebuild either!

Absolutely - we'd better peck it in.
OP - I love those, but I suspect that restoring it will cost rather more than buying a ready-done notchback...
