What car Ideas...for parents!

A slight twist to the normal "What Car".
My parents are due to move house and generally downsize.
This will include their car as well.
ATM they have an 04 Mondy TDCi Zetec with approx. 85k miles, they tow a small caravan but they will be storing this at the site thay stay on most of the time so a big towcar isn't necessary but they may need to tow occassionally.
So new car criteria is:-
Medium size (has to be able to tow approx. 1100kg)
£5k max including part ex. of Mondy
High seating position (My Mum is having trouble now gettig in and out of the Mondy)
Realistically this will be their last car so it needs to last them at least 5-8 years
No preference with fuel (they do about 10k miles per year but my Dad does like the TDCi engine)
5 doors, hatch preferred.
I think thats it.

How about something like a Rav4/Suzuki Grand Vitara/Freelander? All high up seating, capable of towing and generally nice practical vehicles and available in budget.

He's pretty realistic about it after chatting to him.
As long as they can get to their caravan somehow they will be happy.
Kia Soul. Upright bit of ground clearance should be able to get a 1600 around that price so tow capable. Not my cup of tea. Daihatsu Terios. Bit pricey for the mileage and do u need 4x4? Renault Scenic/ VX Zafira / Ford C-max. Even a Ford Fusion with the right engine. I'd also suggest the Toyota Urban Crusier but they are a bit pricey.
dtmpower - he likes the fact it does 50 mpg solo and 40mpg towing.
Its also comfortable, well equipped and drives nicely.
Before this car he had 5 vauxhalls! I rest my case

C-Max looks a good suggestion. They are pretty cheap and have a choice of engines.
I did look at the Note but it only has a 1000kg towing limit.

Most of the time its for the weekly shop, walking trip once a week (80 miles max.) and visiting relatives once every 6-8 weeks (200miles).
TBF the Mondeo is a nice car. It drives well and he keeps it in good nick but he will get shafted on Part ex I'm sure. Anyone do a Glass's price for a 2004 TDCi 130 Zetec with 90k miles?
