My mate tried to comp test my 2.0 blacktop Focus engine at his workshop and his comp tester wouldn't screw in. Seems there's a gap between the plug washer surface and the start of the plug threads requiring a longer reach thread than the 10mm or so on both my and his comp testers. Anyone faced this before?

Could you make up a rubber taper bung to go on the end of your tester.
Used one like that years ago you just have to press hard to maintain a seal. You can hear if you are not pressing hard enough.

It's a pretty common feature on bike engines. I guess it gives a lead-in for when screwing in the plug out of sight down the bottom of the hole. You could make an adapter by busting out the core from an old plug and welding a hose fitting on the top.

Seems like an adaptor is needed and they don't appear to be very cheap so we'll try and borrow one.

I have exactly the same issue, but struggling to find a suitable adapter for sensible money?
