MK7 Golf GTI Leaked

First few pictures of the Golf MK7 GTI (officially a concept) have leaked out today







Design is a nice improvement on before IMO. Will have a detuned version of the 2.0 TFSI from the new Audi S3 with about 220PS and should weigh a bit less than the MK6

An evolution rather than a revolution, would have liked to have seen something different. It does look very sharp though.

I gave up my subscription to Autoexpress as the whole magazine was just one giant sycophantic advert for VAG, very much like a lot of threads on this forum, its just a Golf same as the old Golf, get over it.

My thoughts exactly, I will never buy a new car, but i look to see whats happening in relation to future used buys, and so far since the Mk2 gold i've not felt like they are something i'd like to drive

Detuned S3 lump is good news as the 'detune' will likely be software ie an easy remap.

Not much to get excited about though is it? Much though I like what the Golf offers in middle of the road 'performance' motoring- albeit that like is getting less and less with the price increases. Still horrifies me I can buy a MKVI of sorts in the US for 15 grand sterling and yet they want so much over here in Yerp.

Ah no its actually not...care to look again?

Oh yes I see from the Autocar report its a bit bigger a bit safer and a bit cleaner than the MK6 and it has a stupid electric handbrake and some little windows in front of the wing mirrors. In essence its just an improved version of the MK6 but looks very much the same, a lot like every other car maker does, improve on the previous model, its just that the sheep dont go into raptures about it with other cars that are not made in the mighty Fatherland (or not as the case is with a lot of VW's)

Its not just an improvement on the MK6, its radically different underneath. The MQB platform is 100% new as are most of the engines. They've kept the looks similar as people like how they look and feel at home etc, it wouldn't be a Golf if the appearance was revolutionary.

I realise the Golf is VW's biggest seller and they can't afford to f*ck it up but really? They aren't even trying anymore. It looks little different from the MkV they released in 2003.
