Hi all,
I have just joined the happy gang of Cooper owners and have a couple of questions regarding upgrades. Having only had the car for 4 weeks I must say that I am amazed at the grin it puts on my face, even at 5.15 in the morning to go to work!
Having been used to slightly more powerful cars in the past (mainly TVR's) I would like just a little be more get up and go, even though it seems pretty nippy in standard trim.
Has anybody had any experience of fitting a K & N Typhoon filter or a Milltek exhaust, or perhaps both together?
Also has anybody gone down the chipping route, or Bluefin, and does anybody recommend these at all?
I am not looking to turn it into a pocket rocket, just a little bit more than it has at the moment and any help, or other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

I've just bought a 57 Cooper S with the JCW engine kit fitted from new. I'm not having much luck with it at the mo, suspect it may need a new HPfuel pump as they're a known weak point. Anyway I've joined the Minitorque forum and there is a wealth of knowledge on there about remapping. Evolve and PTorque seem to be the prefered specialist mini remappers. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

How old is your Cooper? If you really do want to go quicker, I would seriously be looking at getting a cooper S - the price differential between a Cooper vs Cooper S on used cars is not great (unless only a couple of years old). By the time you have paid for new induction, exhaust remap (guessing £1000) you would be better off moving the Cooper on and buying a Cooper S.

Plus any money spent upgrading, generally, is not recovered and will cost more on insurance than potnetially buying an S.

Just a thought.....

If you want it to go faster and sound better then buy an S not a cooper. Don't stick a cone filter on it, Milltek is good bbut why bother on a non S car?

The car was a very kind gift from my folks only a month ago, I don't think it would look to good to sell it quite yet, hence wanting to improve what I have.
