May I be the first to say;
-another thing to go wrong, extra failure points which might actually cause loss of pressure (or over-pressure!)
-Tyres will be harder to balance
-'Inflated' (see what I did there?) tyre price

Its all because of the added complication and additonal failure point of pneumatic tyres. Solid tyres were much more reliable.
I say bin all these modern improvements which over complicate a car. Out with fuel injections and electroonic ignition! carbs and points for me please.

Seems a better solution than BMW's flat runs.

Not really trying to solve the same problem - this wouldn't help if you got a significant puncture.
