Anyone else got a fetish for SH/receipts/documentation etc?

Odd confession but I quite like just going through the service history/piles of receipts for my cars. I like big folders full of comprehensive paperwork - bills, serial MOTs etc.
I also like original manuals, especially if it is an original/OEM stereo. For the E36 (325) I still have the copy of Autotrader I found the car in. For the E30 and the 328i I have the original adverts printed out. I've even gone to the bother of trying to find the original BMW sales brochures to match the cars.
I must have gone through these things many many times, but I still enjoy it.

I used to have a huge folder full of stuff for an old P6 I used to own... I had:
Rover workshop manual
Rover addendum's to the workshop manual
Rover sales brochure for the exact model year of my car ('74)
loads of old MOT's and tax discs
full pictorial record of restoration I did on the seats, interior etc
magazine articles on the P6 from 1973/74/75 including magazine adverts for Rover P6
The whole lot went with the car to the new owner who didn't really seem to care that much. Hope he's still got it, it'd be worth... well, probably not much, except to a P6 enthusiast.

I have every single receipt of every penny I've spent on my cars, including receipts for spray cans and sanding paper that I used to refurb my alloys to every single darn diesel receipt to show I only use V Power or BP Ultimate. I've got print outs of all Autodata specification data for my vehicles. I just LOVE documenting my cars! I would never however, count how much I've spent on my vehicles over the years because It would kill me.

Definately not just you, my 968CS had a ring binder which has become a lever arch file. My 1600e has every reciept, in date order dating back to the original bill of sale in 1970. My M3 has every single invoice for work, reciept for part filed against a stamp in the book or an advisory on the MOT.
I crushed 2 discs 3 years ago and decided to file everything and total up what my M3 had cost me in the 10 years Ive owned it.

Me too (or eleven).
Mostly bought cars with fastidious SH and records. The first thing I do when I get the car home after a damn good drive is pore over every single bit of paper and read all the manuals.
If you are uber geeky
you could also spend many many hours online reading specialist forums and planning lists of fixes/upgrades or simply learning a lot.

Have to admit I do enjoy going theough the history of some cars. Found the 944 to be particularly interesting! First bought by Nick Mason in Pink Floyd, then had 8 further owners all over the country, at one point living in Scotland! It was also interesting finding out when the Porsche got its private plate, as well as the restoration work

Not really but my terrano, currently owned for 4 years has every receipt since new. I mean everything except fuel! The previous owner kept every single tyre, bulb, wiper blade, old tax discs exhaust, 2 batteries and then all the services and mots receipts and paper work! Everything! I've not read it all bit by bit though.
I always buy a new folder when I get a new car and sift through whatever paperwork I got with it (usually a reasonable amount!) and stick it in date order in plastic wallets - anal I know, but I like being able to refer back to the last time I had work done or to see how long stuff has lasted
New owners seem to quite like it when they get cars off me - although they may just be humouring me lol
Have original ads for both current cars, plus all old mots, bills for everything except fuel (have a spreadsheet for that to see how rouinous 16mpg average really is!)

After collection and the maiden run in my 911 the first thing i did was to buy a hard back sales brochure from eBay and a genuine Porsche leather keyring, much to the amusement of my mates.
i did that for my e46, luckily the guy i bought it off had filed it very well in the original brochure, but there was a few things that weren't chronological, I then bought a new BMW keyring and BMW valve caps, it now contains 13 years of paperwork, receipts from little ebay purchases of things like the as fore-mentioned valve caps, receipts from BP etcAfter collection and the maiden run in my 911 the first thing i did was to buy a hard back sales brochure from eBay and a genuine Porsche leather keyring, much to the amusement of my mates.
