I'm finally getting round to adjusting my Nitrons so I'll be taking the wheels off a few times. Can anyone recommend a jack which starts low enough to get under a Cerbera ? I measured the clearance as 12cm, which is a bit lower than anything I could see in Halfrauds.
I know it's possible to adjust Nitrons without removing the wheels but the man who knows, Jools, recommended popping them off to start with.

I have to use the parents drive which has a slope and resulting depression in it. I'd be interested if anybody knows of a good jack that won't fail after 6 months and is low enough.
If all your doing is adjusting the stiffness of the dampers, then it's a 5 minute job with the wheels on, or a 20 minute job if you take off the wheels.
Just lay beside the car and stick your hand in, you'll be able to reach the adjusters easily and they are easy to turn.
I bought a two post ramp, which cost about £2500, then I realised it wouldn't fit under the TVR.
Not to get dispondent, I then lowered the ramp into its own H shaped hole by first digging up my garage floor, deepening it and then using a diamond cutter on an industrial angle grinder cut a loverly matched hole so that the whole of the ramp now sits flush with the floor level. Secured with chemical bolts into 12 inches of concrete.
Every time I moved the ramp I had to convert it into little pieces before I could lift and then reassemble it. I think I did that about ten times. So in all about six months.
Now I have a ramp which can lift the TVR I've had to justify it in savings. So far 27 TVRs and about £1500 estimate of work on my own TVR. I've just let the car off it after three days of removing, rewelding and repainting the exhaust.
So another £300 saved.

i bought a trolley jack from a local car spare parts centre , they let me take it outside and try before i bought it. oh and i have used julians lift traced an oil leak that a dealer could not find and fitted exhaust properly as well so much easier than crawling around on your back.

So 2500 pounds ramp man, you still got my ecu i let you borrow ilke a year ago and haven't seen since? If not that's another grand you'll be spending

I have halfords trolley jack also - doesnt fit under mine!!
I have been using a scissor jack to get it up an inch then sliding the new jack under centre mount ... kinda works ... but driving onto paving slabs sounds easier!
I have half built pit ... which also helps looking under the beast!

I've got the Hilka trolley jack kit from Argos (£25) and yes it doesn't slide straight under the car, BUT if you slide it in by the gap between the tyre and wheel arch and then across to your desired jacking it works fine, no need for slabs etc.
That's the one I've got. Only I had to work on a narrow drive, so didn't have the luxury of space to manoeuvre the jack that much!joospeed said:

just keeping it warm and loved for you, let me know when you want it. That chap who you sent to pick it up never did turn up though. I assume his Cerb got fixed or died. P.S. propeller head fact of the day. The eyebolts that hold the bonnet on the cerb come off a piper commache light aeroplane.

I hope they're not used for anything critical on the 'plane, considering how much use they are on a Cerb...
I've just had to buy one as mine snapped off trying to adjust it. £20 +vat
