All prices include 20% worth of options, did Jag miss a trick with the pricing or what....?

Give not exactly the same connotation as paying the thick end of £100k for one though :>

I am from Castle Bromwich so buying one does hold an additional appeal.

With only two seats and at that price (optioned) it puts it straight into 991 GT3 territory.

But they don't need the massive options which Porsche has.

I speced up the F type S at 74k. And it was a nice spec.

So that 7k of options

But when I spec up a Boxster S you seem to need double that.

The issue which will stop me placing my order is it weighs to much which is a shame.

Jag dealers are notorious for knocking 20-25% off list, if that is already priced in here, it starts to look like decent value.

I have had a play on the configurator and the Jag options seems to be half the price of the Porsche equivalents so my assumption of 20% of the cost for options might be more like 10% on the F-type.

I mean, they got carbon fibre roll-hoops and deviated stitching, which looks to die for on the leather seats. They really nailed the interior design on this one, it is very sporty.

If they depreciate like the XJ they will be remarkable VFM in 12 months time. The list price is, erm, ambitious though.

I can't see them knocking out discounts for a while yet, when I was going to put a deposit down (£6k) they had a few people on the list already

I had a play on the configurator last night and for the spec I would want, and to compare to our new 981 spec wise, it was £70k for a base one and I think £75k for the middle one

They seem to have got stingy on spec and like the Porsche you seem to have to add things that should be standard at that price eg dual a/c. I thougt Jags used to be generously specced from standard.

Look forward to seeing one in the flesh but now glad that we went porker route.

I've put a letter of intent into my dealer for a 981 Cayman. Spent yesterday thinking I may take a look at the F-type.....came home, looked at the price....no way!!! There always seems something slightly fake about the new Jags - like they design there cars based on the past. Too much plastic chrome and 'mock' luxury. I am in no doubt that once all the hype has settled, F types will be driven by 60+ year old wives of retired company directors who want a 'sports car' but find it easier to get in and out of their XF's...

535dBoy, you have made the right decision!!! ;-)

I doubt it. Rumour has it the forthcoming 991 GT3, and the Turbo, will both move into headier price brackets.

Must admit they are a. Bit more pricey than I first expected them to be!

I did have a look at the 495bhp version specced up with several options and it still came to less than £90k. Very nice, but that sort of money get me a 991 cab second hand which I would like too (but can't afford either so it doesn't matter tongue out).

And still nobody mentions the weight of the Jag. It looks like a lard bucket to me, but does anybody know the weight?

I think I'll wait for the reviews and then a proper test drive before I make my mind up on the F-Type. How can you be so sure what the car's going to be like based purely on supposition? I don't understand how it's possible to make an objective assessment of a cars looks, style, presence, build quality, interior, ambience, material quality, performance and handling (amongst others) if you haven't even seen one 'in the metal', let alone driven one.

There are two things I can judge it on - gearbox and cost. I don't want a plain 'auto' box, and I just specified an F-Type S to my ideal spec - £77,000. That is a lot of money right there. Quite simply I can't afford one, and when I can, I think there will be more dedicated sports cars out there, with proper gearboxes.

Kerb weight is at 1,597, 1,614 and 1,665 kg, thanks to the F-type’s use of aluminium, including a new aluminium front subframe.

Hardly a lightweight sports car is it.

I thought they were about the same if not more .. for example:

heated seats, F type:£350, 981:£283
non black roof, F type:£450, 981:FOC

Yes, I'd say despite the aluminium chassis.

Ok, put it like this. I haven't ever driven a 2012 Merc SLK....but I know I don't want one and I can pretty much guess the people who will be driving them.... perhaps I have special skills!!! (I am joking).
