I had a petrol 309 of similar vintage for years - boring in every respect - reliability, performance, handling, comfort, running costs. So simple and just never broke.

Looks like a bargain for someone if it's running well.

0-60 in 11 seconds, so "nippy" rather than fast.

I can remember the car magazines getting very excited about this car when it was launched. Diesel mania hadn't yet caught on in the UK, and (IIRC) it was almost as expensive as a petrol GTI so they didn't sell too many.

Great choice for the "OMG, modern cars are all too heavy and complicated" brigade. In fact, Twincam16, your ideal car is right here.
