Hi All
We have just booked a trip to the Het Heijdabos Center Parcs in February 2013. We're taking the overnight Stena Line ferry from Harwich to the Hook, and want to eat once we get off the boat. Has anyone got any recomendations as to where would be good to grab something to eat?
Thanks in advance!

Nowhere in the Hoek :-)

What time of day do you arrive and which route do you follow to get to Centre Parcs - round via Rotterdam?

Hi
We get in in the morning, I think it's at 7 and it doesn't have to be in the hoek! We're quite happy to drive for a bit before eating, but ideally not too far as we have small children (hmm, possibly should have mentioned tht one originally!) so basically somewhere nice, child friendly, not too far from tbe main motorway (whichever way google says is best tbh!) for breakfast please! ;-)
Seriously though, any recommendations would be very much appreciated!
Thanks

Ok, I've been on that route quite a few times

Personally, unless you are in a hurry I would forget about charging off to where you are going as the motorways will be completely choked - think M25 +++

I used to live in Delft which is about 9km away, and you can get there via the back road without hitting traffic - loads of nice touristic cafes etc - I'd go there for an hour or so and chill out, then get on the motorways after 10 am once everything has calmed down

Loads of nice places, but it may be the opposite direction to where you want to go

The boat itself also does nice breakfasts if you don't want to stop once you are off

Thats very informative, thanks very much! Do you know of any cafes/places to eat that will be open in the morning you could recomend at all please? Thanks for the tips about the motorway at that time. We will try to avoid it!
As far as eating on the boat is concerned, I'd rather not personally! No real reason why, but I tend to find the food on ships are expensive what it is, and we enjoy throwing ourselves into the 'culture' of the country we're visiting!
Thanks very much again

I'd recommend De Bok in Den Haag, not that far from the ferry, and only ever been there for Sunday brunch, but it's a cracking English breakfast. No idea what time they open.

Breakfast on board ship is a tenner, and quite good.

You might want to find somewhere to go before heading for Centre Parcs, they won't let you book in too early.

  • Top Tip* Take a quantity of Zip Logs or similar for the fire - they can be quite expensive in the on-site shop (we were at Zandfoort)
(we took a load to the Centre Parcs near the Nurburgring last year, only to find there wasn't a fire in any of the German ones!)
