2 of my relatives have recently bought 996 911's, both under £15k, so both early 00s with mileage 70k+. Very nice cars they are too and I'm thinking I'd like to join them one day as the unloved 996 does seem very good value.
I have however always been a TT Supra fan [has to have next to no body-kit though] and for just under £15k you'd get an incredible example [early 00s, low miles etc] - could potentially be rock hard to find one though!
So what do you guys reckon, 911 or Supra?

Personal opinion dictates it really, plus what you intend to do with the car. Supra has waaaaaay more tuning potential unless you can get a turbo 911 at that price?? Im not into porsche's so dont know!!
I would go for the supra as you rarely see them nowadays, where as 911's are very common. I'm not taking the piss out of any 911 owners on her at all before I say this!! but nine out of ten 911 owners I regularly see are women?
I doubt you would get a much better out the box all rounder than a 911 though, hence why they are used as a benchmark so often

I don't think you could go badly wrong with a good example of either.
Why not flip a coin and try either for say a year and if you don't like or fancy a change then buy the other car. I can't see either of these cars dive bombing in price.
Personally, I'd go for the big Toyota, already modifed with a bag of receipts. I do love the sound of that big turbo 6 when it gets going.

Check out the grey Supra recently in the readers cars section, it is absolutely perfect. Might help
This one you mean - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... - I love the fact it looks near stock, there's nothing I hate more than a Supra with a stupid big body-kit.
