Opinions on joint pain?
Discussion
I know this isnt really the place to ask, and any advice could be wrong etc etc.
however, for a long time now, i have had persistent pain in my knees, hips and lower back, from around 15 years old... it started with the hips very young, maybe 5-7 but no action was taken, and then later on my knees aged 11-13ish which they suspected was an inflamation of the tendon in the knee.
however recently (aged 18) it has got much much worse, to the degree that i am no longer able to skate, or mow the lawn (admittedly a largeish lawn) without severe pain and very stiff joints the next day to the degree that I am unable to walk. However i still get some pain when not doing much activity (i.e; sitting in lectures). I also have moments when I get very severe pain causing me to not be able to move and become breathless in pain (it feels like someone has stabbed a very sharp needle into my spine) normally in my back or hips, my knees also swell up quite considerably. I have been to the doctors on a fair few occasions, with one telling my mother (aged around 16) that i was making it up in front of me! but apart from a few blood tests for rheumatism, which was negative, and a hip scan when they thought i may have had a slipped growth plate in my hip (slightly but not much) no other action was taken.
I had a slight twist in my leg as a baby, and have one leg slightly shorter than the other.
I have also become much clumsier, tripping often and I am walking frequently with a limp, I have difficulty bending my back and cannot reach my toes when stretching (if that helps)
sorry for the length, advice appreciated chaps, as I am getting rather fed up of it

I think you do need to be referred to a specialist. we have a problem with my 4 year old who has been limping and has mildly swollen joint and has been complaining of pain for months and is very stiff in the mornings. We have been referred and are now on specialist number 4 to see if we can get to bottom of things. It seems to be a slow process - which is why starting it as soon as possible is important.
