Have you fixed somewhere to stay in Maranello? I was there couple of months ago and stayed at the Hotel Domus, a Best Western hotel in the main square. The rooms are about £70 a night for a double b&b. There is a hotel directly opposite the factory which is much classier and more expensive but cant remember the name! Not much to see in Maranello though apart from the factory. Its just a huge industrial estate. Bologna is lovely. Good luck

It's the Planet Hotel, or Hotel Planet or some such.

It's not that much more expensive than you paid - I think I paid 80 quid for a big double room (would have slept half a dozen), is 1min walk to the factory gates including a 30sec look in the store AND if you ask nicely you'll get a balcony that overlooks the test circuit!

The Galleria's worth a look, and you'll possibly get a factory tour, though I did hear that these are off the cards until after September.

While you're in the region, you should visit Pagani, Lambo, Maserati collection, deTomaso, Maserati and Ducati if you get chance. I had to skip the latter two, but the rest are worth a trip. All are within a 30min or so drive of the Ferrari factory. You'lll need to ask in advance for all but Lambo I think.

There are plenty of places to stay in the region, B&Bs etc and it's worth spending a good few days cruising if you have time. Modena, however, is not the prettiest city in Northern Italy.

And if you can wangle even more time out, Pisa, Florence, Siena and some other N.Italy delights are all very, very close.

Watch the speed limits in Italy. Contrary to urban myth, they do not view Ferraris as immune to speed limits and take a somewhat dim view. Though it is comical to be stopped by a guy in a matt blue Alfa, wearing jodphurs, Oakleys and a daft tunic (him wearing them, not me).

We stayed in Modena at the Hotel Real Fini in Via Emilia.

Very nice, it's where all the Ferrari UK tours stay.

A factory tour is a must and while you're there have lunch in the Cavalinho(sp?) across the road

I'll vouch for that.Got done last week. They were pulling people over who looked like they had the money and fining them 137 euros.I wasnt doing the speed they lasered me at - and neither was anyone else they did. They were the Auto Strada police, obviously after a bit of lunch money. In the shady part under bridges seemed to be the favoured spot.
