Hi all. I'm looking at brake discs for my 996 4S on the Euro Car Parts website. They have Pagid, Textar and Sebro. I've never heard of Sebro? Who makes the original parts that Porsche use out of these 3, if any!? The Pagid are cheapest, then Textar followed by Sebro. I'm tempted to go for the Pagid, not because of price, but because I know the name and have had good experience with their parts over the years. Any opinions?

Cheers!

Can't answer directly but just had Pagid brakes fitted to the rear of my 996.2 and they seem good. Just wish I'd bought new handbrake shoes too as apparently the lining has parted company on one of them.

I'm tempted to just go with the Pagids, but I'm also very much of the opinion that you get what you pay for? Although I know that potentially bulk buying, or some other reasonable explanation for the pricing, might blow my opinion out the water! Haha

In my opinion. Sebro are far superior then pagid. Usual mix is sebro discs and textar pads. Roy

Hmm, decisions decisions! In what way do you reckon Sebro are better? Longevity, feel etc?

..I put a set of Pagid discs and pads on my 6-4S, I've tracked Pagid products for years, and thought I would try a road set as the OE ones were fooked on the inner edges, take your time to bed them in and they are excellent, it was about a grand for all 4 corners fitted.

You would be fine with any of the three.

FWIW I just replaced my 986S front discs with the OEM discs from design911.com and they came in Pagid boxes. I meant to use Performance Friction PF06 pads, accidentally ordered rears instead of fronts so used standard Porsche pads instead - which are Textar.

Feel, quality. Generally better than the pagid discs in my opinion. My indie uses them and so does a large tyre/ brake place near me.

Pagid and Textar are made by the same parent company.

They are OEM on a lot of Porsches.

I have Pagid discs and Textar pads all round on my Cayman S, fitted by me, total cost less than £400, thanks to Euro Car Parts discounts.

Braking feel is exactly the same - which is not surprising as the pads which came off the car were exactly the same as the ones I fitted.

I think some people feel that spending more will lead to increased quality, but in many cases with Porsche parts all you get for your extra money is a different cardboard box.
