V8V Wheel Bearing Costs

I think my wheel bearing may be on its way out.
I have been quoted £300 + vat from Bridge Mill Motors. Sound about right?
Would you trust a local garage to do this fairly routine work?
Bit of a trek to Macclesfield from Leeds.

Replacing a wheel bearing is pretty straight forward.......but I'd rather someone do it on my AM who's done it before

Even if a local place could do it for £200........ For the extra £100 quid, I'd be going to Macclesfield..

Just had one replaced myself and it was around that mark but can't give you an exact figure as I had a couple of things done at the same time.

I would most certainly take it to Bridge Mill.
They are good value and do an excellent job that you can trust.
I can see no reason to scrimp on this.

sounds about right, I had 2 replaced a couple of years ago at DMS for similar

What are the indicators of a bearing needing replacement and what sort of mileage are we talking about?

Got a noise from the offside rear that I'm not sure if is tyre or wheel related

Best indicator is to jack up the car, grab the wheel top and bottom, push with one hand and pull with the other..... Any play, is an indication of a worn bearing or one that needs adjusting if adjustable

Another one is noise..... A bit of a rumble, and if its left hand rear, it'll probably get louder when you turn right, and that wheel is loaded...

You don't just replace the bearings any more, they are a hub assembly which consists of a housing with the bearing in it and then the drive flange fitted in to the bearings.
The housing is bolted to the front or rear suspension upright.
I think i saw a price of about £190 for the hub, should be able to fit in under an hour.
The hub looked very simular to a volvo v70 hub to me.
