Possibly considering selling my Abarth 500 Esseesse earlier than planned, around it's 3rd birthday. Car would be worth around 11k and I'd be looking at a stop gap for 2 years whilst I save for a Megane 265.

Now what sold me on the Abarth was 6.9 seconds to 60, capable of 40+mpg, quite rare and fun to drive. Now I'm struggling to think of suitable replacements with similar figures. The only thing I've seen that would appeal is an Alpina D3, which has slightly better MPG, slightly cheaper road tax and a similar 0-60. It is also brilliant to drive and ticks the rarity box. Cons are that at 11k I can only afford the older mono-turbo model (far from a bad car, but the bi-turbo from 2008 is much improved), equipment is poor (no xenon's would be a loss to me), dull interior and a crap stereo (my dad has a 335d with the upgraded speakers and it's one of the worst sounding stereos I've heard, so the basic 6 speaker one in the D3 must be awful).

What other alternatives would be out there. To add, no bigger than a 3 series saloon and no preference to petrol or diesel. Good residuals are a must too

Why not just keep the Fiat?
