Hopefully an easy one this....
I have got myself a nice shiny handbrake lever from those nice people at Leven. I've replaced the sleeve okay but for the life of me cannot remove the end button. It twirls and twirls and goes nowhere, its quite chewed up now as well, (so looks horrible) as I think the previous owner may have tried to remove it and run into the same problem. Does anyone have a suggestion of how I can remove it such that the replacement one can still be fitted?

Mmmmm it should just screw on and off. The handle held on by three Allen screws I think.

Yes it should, but it doesn't? Should I try to cut it off?

Push the button in and apply pressure against the spring whilst you turn.

A bit like an anti tamper tablet bottle.

Only if you don't want your handbrake to release in future...

Well, I've just spent a frustrating half hour pushing and turning - in both directions - to no effect whatsoever. The thing just turns happily in either direction neither tightening nor loosening, and it wont pull off either. Pulling and turning at the same time also does no good.

Such a small issue but it's drivng me mad now.

Any other ideas anyone?
