Removing decals

I've been thinking of removing the factory fitted decals from my L200.

The vehicle is now 4 years old so I'm assuming after removal the outlines may be seen on the paintwork if the actual paint has slightly faded (is this possible on modern, 4 year old paint?)
If this is the case, would a good machine polish remove them?

What colour is it and has it got a clear coat on the paint?

Metallic grey.

I assume it has a clear laquer on it, but being Japanese paint possibly not.

They are lacquered. If there is any discolouration, like you say a quick machine polish will sort it out.

If the decals leave a lot of adhesive behind on removal then Tar and Glue remover makes the job so much quicker.
