Hmm, there was a cadet of that name a year or two above me, and he was a friend of Guy Bancroft-Wilson (later Red Arrow)

Lessons in being a Pedantic git are obviously high on the curriculum at Cranwell.

i would have thought as an ex APD it would be of interest to you if no one else..............

Listening to the flightdeck recording of the Hawker Lightning now, it's interesting actually. Quite why she felt the need to jump in like that up top is beyond me.

Ian Black originally trained as a Nav and was a WSO on F-4's in RAFG in the early 1980's. He trained as a pilot and has the distinction of being the last RAF pilot to qualify to fly the Lightning.
His father is AVM George Black, who was also a well known Lightning pilot, and had been an early Lightning CO when he commanded 111 Sqn in the early 19060's.

If he went to Woodbridge School then that's the man (not that he'd remember me) - and Woodbridge was in the thick of much RAF/USAF activity in the 70s.
