Going for a few days late next week with 4 mates. We're going to Auschwitz and the salt mines - any other suggestions?

Head out to Nova Hute, the town built to support the new power station. Very Stalinist.
There's also the lovely little church that Pope JPII worked at before being promoted to Pope in that area.

Crazy Taxi (IIRC) do tours in Trabants which will take you out to those places.

Don't forget to try the dumplings, beetroot soup and of course the tatanka.

I went just after the football finished with a few mates, it's a great city. Very cheap, just get taxi’s if there are a few of you, it’s as cheap if not cheaper than other public transport.

The main square is really nice as well, in the centre there is a large building with a tourist market, which is pretty nice.
You must try these whilst you are over there: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zapiekanka

Make sure you use the proper taxi rank outside of the airport on arrival, do not accept a ride from someone who approaches you in the airport!

Auschwitz - This is a must, we had a great guide – very passionate and knowledgeable and whilst not a pleasant place to go it was worthwhile.

Salt Mines - I'd potentially dodge the mines, very commercial, guided route where you just see carvings - I wanted to see a proper mine - the church in the mine is very impressive though - be prepared for an hour wait when leaving the mine (10 people in a lift at a time)

Schindler’s Factory – Worth a visit for an afternoon.

Aviation museum – We went here for a few hours, taxi was about £5 and entrance £1-2 http://www.muzeumlotnictwa.pl/indexen.php

In the market square, under the market hall, is the underground museum, which has only been open 18 months or so, but has streets et al from 15th century found when they were excavating. Might not rock your boat but definitely worth a look I think.
