It wouldn't be the first time. At least one of the manufacturers used to send its show cars off to have all the shut lines hand finished with lead. And I think extra coats of paint for show cars is pretty much de rigueur.

Really is quite a dull looking thing. The lowering er.. straps.. certainly are an interesting idea! Do you think it'll catch on amongst the "modding on a budget" community instead of cutting the springs?

Wow, great looking MK5 or its that the MK6 or the new Mk7, it is really hard to tell.

I hope the designer is only paid for a half day job, as that in not evolutionary design, it is completely stationary.

I wonder if those "lowering straps" are OEM though ?

Those straps are often used for transporting brand new cars to stop them being damaged by moving round on their springs.

I well recall a case of an Austin Montego back in the 80s where the owner complained of it having a sh*t ride and they eventually realised these straps hadn't been removed.

So that may be all it is.

Years ago I took a Ford Orion pool car from work that was 6mths old and had done 25K miles. It was immediately (as in driving off the estate and round a rondabout) obvious that something was seriously wrong. It still had the transit blocks in the suspension.
