I just had to give some idiot a blast of horn for cutting right across my bow, no indication, in fact I don't think he even looked!

tt!

Anyway apart from that I can't remember the last time I gave someone a proper blast.
The occasional beep to remind the car in front the lights have changed to green, obviously they're too busy texting/applying make-up/spanking the monkey.

yesterday at Gallows Corner roundabout..

I hate this current trend of people on the left exit just pulling out onto the roundabout because they want the first exit and it happens to be two lane.

unless you have the road markings to tell you its ok for you to 'filter' independently then ITS NOT OK and damn dangerous.

I see them, i know what they are planning and i have already made allowances for it, but it annoys me because its just rude and assumptive driving that could get someone hurt one day.

Yesterday, when a cyclist decided to lean against the nearside of my bus for a rest at the lights. Just as I was about to pull off, lucky (for him) I always check my mirrors!

Can't say I'm much of a horn man myself, more of a flasher...

Last week, woman cut across me and turned off roundabout in the offside lane of dual carriageway, without indicating, too busy on her mobile (not hands free) then drove at a steady 35 mph, nothing in the inside lane. Woke her up with a good blast, and she finally moved over so I and the trail of 6 or more vehicles could get past.

Couple of weeks ago. Woman in a Qashqai had managed to turn right a bit too sharply & was now coming up the wrong side of a dual carriageway (30mph, in a city centre) towards me. I was on a motorbike at the time, so a bit of extra impetus to not get hit. How she managed it & how she didn't spot the 4 lanes of traffic facing towards her is beyond me. She exited by running the Qashqai over the kerbs of the central reservation

Two days ago on the A272.

An L200 pickup decided to overtake a pair of cyclists, pulling right out in to my lane, forcing me to haul on the anchors to avoid a head on collision.

Utterly bircked myself as pickup vs mini at near NSL speeds wouldn't have ended well for me.

Last Friday. I was at a crossroads, on a minor road going straight over a major road. A guy appeared opposite me, indicating right. After we'd waited an eternity the road cleared we both set off. As expected he tried to cut in front of me.

Normally I just roll my eyes and let them get on with it but as I had a stinking cold and was feeling a bit off I gave him a blast on the horn and some xenon action. He looked startled. Not half as startled as he would have been if I hadn't slammed on the anchors and had ploughed into the side of his car instead.

It happens all the time at that junction and puts me and my kids in danger - all in the name of saving him 0.105 secs off his journey time.

I still felt like a complete tw*t afterwards, though. I think I'll just revert to the "no, after you, feel free to cut in front of and leave me stranded half way across a busy main road" mode next time.

I really don't get the horn use.... when I am in a situation where I could justifiably use the horn, I am way to preocupied with navigating my car away from the idiot than hitting the horn!

The only time I use it is when I want to get someone's attention in traffic - e.g. move over, i'm turning left here.

I've been driving for 10 years and still haven't used my horn. The one time I went to use it I was in a car with the horn on the indicator stalk which was unusual for me and I merely ended up bashing my steering wheel which had no impact on the situation at all.

IN anger was back in the 80s when I was still in my 20s and was under the assumption it did some good

Once I had grown up then I realised it was pointless to use it after the event

2000, or perhaps 2001. Never have used them much, & they tend to stop working if not used.

Back in the old days, when men were men, & women liked it that way, & we had cross ply tyres, we would use a quick stab of brakes, rather than the horn. The cross plys would lock instantaneously, giving a loud screech.

Other drivers did not tend to get offended, as they would if you honked them, but would sure jump out of the way very quickly.

Saturday night. Side by side with a pink Volvo V90 on a piece of dual-carriageway in Chichester, he decided that he wanted to be in L1 (where I was), started t move across and then indicated, it was a quick succession of toots to wake the driver up to the fact that there was another car beside him rather than a long blast which I don't think I've ever done.

Hate that roundabout with a passion. Last week had somebody do exactly as you mentioned, going from A12 onto A127. Just oblivious banghead

I only used it once, when a half asleep driver drifted into main lane on a sliproad. He didn't react to the horn so he was probably stoned or something!

Saturday, when someone sat in the left lane of a two lane traffic light didn't move when the filter left light went green. The right lane had a massive straight on and right arrow painted on it, ours a left only arrow.

More accurately, the first toot was just that - a friendly "we've sat here on green for a bit - stop doing whatever you're doing and concentrate on the road...". The second, more insistent toot was a "Yes, I meant you. Wake up dumbass. I want to get going now.". The third, long blast was a "Get a f*cking move on and learn the rules of the road."

This morning.

Dropped my wife off at the station, Monday mornring rush hour, raining a bit...poeple everywhere. In the station car park, some plank in an Alfa decided to park on the side of the one way bit of the car park. Kind of understandable, probably getting a ticket or whatever.

Not only did the dim-wit block the footpath, he/she also chose to park exactly opposite where a large 4x4 had parked, legally, but slightly forward of all the other cars.

End result: all traffic wanting to pass this morons dumped parked car had to squeeze through a very tight gap. The Disco infront of me probably took 60 seconds to get through the gap. Selfish and very thoughless parking on the Alfa driver's part.

Beeped and quickly thought "hmm...I look a dick now" as he/she wasnt there, though one chap in the queue for a ticket gave me a very angry look.
