How much oil in the gearbox?

I have just dropped the oil, and started to fill it up.

Now the handbook says 1.4L, but having put that in its still nowhere near the filler hole?

Do I go by the book? Or go by my experience and keep filling?

I dont want the cause hydraulicing problems, don't want to start banging out little holes in my gears.

Its the T5 gearbox.

I think from memory the handbook has the gearbox and diff capacities crossed.

approx 2.5litres do it
