mk2 Steering cable reel?

So.. the jinxing of my car seems to continue and after a good couple of weeks, I felt a little resistance in the steering (as if the power-assistance had gone down).
On taking it apart it appears that the wiring cable "reel" has caught up all of the wiring that goes to the warning lights, so I now have quite a large amount of torn/stripped wires appearing to have wrapped around the reel?



Anyone know what the cable reel is off originally? And/Or does anyone have any decent photos of how it should look in terms of cable routing etc?
