Why I could never part with my wedge !!!!
Discussion
Just took my classic mini cooper out for a spin (to circulate some "Stop Oil Leak" around the engine) and as usual was cut up by a f
kin idiot. This is a common occurrence when driving a mini together with people driving up my a
e
It was a ford focus and we both left the m25 and stopped at the roundabout.
I decided to welly it and (my right foot was planted) kept up with it going round the roundabout. To make matters worse it was a woman driving !!!
Anyway, it got me thinking that she wouldn't have cut me up if I was in my 390. My "blue beast" would have eaten her focus up for breakfast.
Noone ever seems to cut my up or drive up my backside in the wedge even on the rare occasion that I'm driving it sedately !!! Why is that ???
Driving the mini, all be it a completely different driving experience, makes me realise what an animal the TVR wedge is
The noise, performance, the looks....
If the wedge was human it would definitely be Mike Tyson
So, long live our wedges

Hi
There certainly is something about a wedge!
My History with TVRs started with a M and at that time I was not interested in a wedge, then I went to a S followed by Chims, Cerbes, back to a Chim, and then the love affair with wedges started! Now 12 cars later ( 7 at present) its still as strong if not stronger!
No other TVR has given me as much fun/enjoyment I would not be with out them, I may even try and get into the passangers side of one next weekend as I have missed them so much!

In the two and a half years of owning my 280 i have probably experienced two trivial road rage incidences compared to one everyday in my old tin top..One was a hoody in a 1.1 fiesta trying to race me...
And the other was about a month ago while i was sitting at a red light the guy behind me was shouting and honking his horn at me to go...
Oh and the range rover but that was partly my fault...
But in general people just point and say.."Wow look at that TR7"...

Yeah, even the early Tasmin has a definite road 'presence', and the later styles have even more macho in their presence. I reckon it's something about the shape. To me they look more aggressive even than (some of) the later Chimp styles.
Here in NZ I see a huge difference driving my wedge and driving our boring Volvo 440 (2 litre). Pedestrians people stop and stare at the wedge, and drivers seem to just assume it's going to overtake them no matter what. Many give a friendly wave. [ I even forgive them sometimes for asking if it's a Triumph, but only sometimes....!!!]
The Volvo OTOH gets tailgated, cut off, overtaken with prejudice by w**kers in turbojap nutterboxes,
whereas (probably like the Cooper) it's actually pretty quick of the mark. Worse, the Volvo is that dull grey colour, so people also don't see it in crap weather...

I often find that the "volume" of the exhaust is enough to keep most people off the rear bumper of my wedge....
I do find that people look a lot closer than they probably are in the wedge compared to my HUGE Jag.
However as others have stated a quick blip of the right foot soon makes them a lot further back.
