VERY IMPORTANT!
Mark Adams noticed last week when Tiny and I were down at Mech Repairs that there are two exposed copper terminals on the fuse board that are connected directly to the battery. If your board is not fitted particularly well (98% of Griffiths, I should think) when you push the ECU home, it is possible to touch the casing against one of these terminals.
If you do, it shorts to ground. This will, at best, almost certainly blow the on board fusable link which will require some careful soldering to rectify. It could fry your whole board.
I advise putting some good insulation tape over these terminals whilst you have the ECU out!

Thanks i will look out for this when i put all of the spagetti wiring back in to the hole

Agree the chip can have a sticky label, but IMHE that is normally on the outside of the ECU box and scribbled over in permanent marker.
Inside the ECU my main chip was a non-descript OEM eprom with '4ltr HC CAT' or somesuch written on it in pencil
you have to cach it in the right light to see the wirting.
