Been looking at one of these early cars as they seem to represent good value for money on the face of it. However, I'm sure I read somewhere a while back about major engine problems some have been affected by (around 70K mileage??). Has anyone had negative experience or knows of such problems (or others) on the higher mileage cars? I'll be looking at a 4.5s and I would only buy one with the correct service history - porsche and/or specialist

Thanks

I think that was an EVO buying guide....not sure, but, may have been on the 3.2's ? In any case,no negatives re:engine on the Turbo version (or much price difference to buy really) as my relatively high miler can testify............248k,still going great guns!

its very very rare .. evo got it completely wrong

i have heard of more 997 GT3 failures personally as opposed to cayenne failures

Evo ? Got it wrong ? Surely not? Trouble is mud sticks...like internet scare stories, people really need to do more research to gain genuine, helpful advice.I'll say it again, great cars at great prices (would still be a great car if you bought in a few years ago for a lot more money, just even better value now.)

No worries, its hard keeping up with two threads!
I must admit i dont exactly drive like a hooligan (most of the time!) but, with the Cayenne the speed is quite deceptive, almost effortless really. Now and again giving it the full monty the MPG basically dissapears, but then thats part of the attraction surely?
