ALARM QUESTION

Hi all
Just a quick question-i have a 2000 XK8 convertible and i just want to know when setting alarm should i get a sound of any description as all i get is a flash of indicators.

my 1999 XJr only blinks the indicators, no audible notification. One press to lock, second press to deadlock,

I believe a audible warning of set and unset alarms on cars was outlawed around the mid 90's by those nice chaps in Brussels who dedicate so much of of their time working out new and ever more ever ingenious ways of spending taxpayers money - so, no they don't bleep anymore.

It used to be a programmable feature using WDS/IDS. You could have it beeping when deadlocked. We used to have to enable the ' battery back up sounder ' on PDi. Might be worth asking as if your car is stolen and the power cut while alarm is armed at least it will annoy the thieves until they find the sounder.

My 2001 XJR Beeps once on the second press which confirms it has deadlocked.
