track pump presta valve adaptor

I've got a track pump that fits schraeder valves (so works on the Brompton and on the kids bikes) but now I have my road bike with presta valves I have a choice - either splash out on a decent track pump or get some kind of adapter.

My history with adapters is not great - they never seem to get a good seal, or they are not long enough and I just end up pushing the centre of the valve in when I attach the schraeder pump. That said, money is not rolling around for the spending so I'd like to avoid any expense; not to mention the raised eyebrows that any more cycling kit coming into the house would cause; at least an adapter can be hidden in a pocket!

So, any good adapters that you have used or can recommend?

I got an adaptor from wiggle for £1 and that works a treat. That said my track pump has a reversible head that does both types. (Halfords for about £6).

Have you actually checked your pump? Every quality bike pump I've had does both - you just unscrew the cap and rotate the plastic insert and rotate the rubber gromit and it's all sorted.

However, I wanted an adapter for my compressor, paid less than £1 on Ebay delivered.

I always carry a schraeder to presta valve adaptor usually screwed onto one of my valves for that just in case scenario. Cost a pittance in fact I got a spare one with a tubeless kit I got recently.
