Hi all,

I replaced the fuel pump on my 5l chim and now the car wont start? The pump is priming and the relays are working but it just turns over. The old pump was still working before I replaced it and the car was starting fine. I only replaced it as I had just replaced the fuel pipes and thought I might as well do the pump while im there!
The tank was pretty much empty so I topped up with a 5L jerry can, could that be still too little petrol to prime the system?

Any ideas greatly appreciated! thanks in advance.

I can set my Megasquirt just to run the pump only ,You could remove the resturn to see if its actually pumping .

I thought this as the terminals will only fit one way, I took me weeks to figure it out swapped them over and it fired up staight away.

So are you saying I have to swap round the big and small connectors on the wiring?

IF this is the case have i been running the pump backwards?!

Thanks for the help, i shall try swapping the terminals over tommorrow (assuming i'v grasped the right end of the stick) and hopefully that shall be a nice simple fix. (fatal last words...)

Glad it is fixed, I thought it would be ages before I could pass this little nugget of info on as it only happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I did not have to wait long
