^^ different league mate.. same time as the 918.http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cIzqgQm8GH0
After having just borrowed, for a few days a PDK, PDCC C2S (thumbs up Leicester OPC), and previously owned a 997 GT3.2 and 997 GTS, this car's handling and grip blew me away. It's hard to imagine how Porsche will better the 991 GT3 (handling). And for those that slate the electric-steering... go drive it.

sport auto posted a 7:38 with the standard car.

that lap is not using the standard LF-A car, its the run-out GT3 track special version.

Lexus used an even more limited-edition version of its already limited LFA known as the Nürburgring Edition. Only 50 examples are to be built, which represents 1/10th of total planned LFA production. The differences on this limited, limited-edition car can be found in the added aero bits, track-tuned suspension, custom wheels and an extra 11 horsepower. That extra oomph brings total power up to 563 horses, compared to the "standard" car's 552.sport auto posted a 7:38 with the standard car.

Looks like lexus posted a 7:22 with that car, whomever posted the 7:14 was an insane genius.

That is the baby, I remember Harris reviewing it in EVO - black and orange monster.

it was the recent 918 ring time that got me thinking of the old LFA 'ring edition' lap of a matched 7.14.. above we see the street 991S time 7.38.. we could call the new 991GT3 the 'ring edition'.. do you think it will be allowed or get close to the lap time of the 918.?Looks like lexus posted a 7:22 with that car, whomever posted the 7:14 was an insane genius.

Previous 997 C2S best was a 7:50 so 11 second improvement which means...
a 991 GT3 would do a 7:26.19 which puts its nose just ahead of the RS 4.0 - Carrera GT speed.

What did you think of PDCC, the car I borrowed didn't have it...
I know you've had GT3 before so value your opinion....
I've not driven a car without PDCC so can't do any comparisons. What i can say though is that the PDCC 991 i drove handled like it was on rails. First few drives i was holding back simply because i wasn't used to the car and didn't want to take it back to the OPC on a recovery truck. But, on the second day (dry - minimal traffic) i properly lobbed it around a few roundabouts local to me. Handling and grip - nothing short of astonishing. A regular Carrera shouldn't be this good. This is where the car comes alive - PDK in Manual, Sports Plus - ON, Sports Chassis - ON. What surprised me was how big a step up (in all areas) the 991 is from the 997 GTS/C2S. It's on another level. What did you think of PDCC, the car I borrowed didn't have it...

I'd hate to compare it to a GT3. Ones a road-legal racer, all the drama, all the noise, all the thrills, but too impractical (for me). The other is probably my next car.

As the owner of one of these (albeit a sissy cab). and former GTS owner, I'll second this viewpoint. I'd just caution that the steering, while precise and feelsome in the sort of driving described here (empty roundabout + hooner), is a little vague when you're just pottering about.I'd hate to compare it to a GT3. But I'd also add that, contrary to the expectations of those who imagine PDCC prevents the driver reading the level of grip, in wet conditions like last night, on waterlogged moorland twisties, the tyres and chassis communicate precisely how much grip you have. Thank goodness.
I'd like to fit mine with a set of MPSS. Not so impressed by the standard Pirellis in the wet.
Very impressive, however, what I notice is that the camera is mounted on or just behind the dash, ie well forward of the drivers viewpoint, and centred. From that position, you get an approximation of a 'classic' 911 from the drivers view, and that makes the video so much more impressive to watch. In reality, that is not the view the driver gets in a 991, which, only imho mind, however good the car is, is more like a BMW 6-series. Contrast the driver's view in a 997, which really does feel like the real deal.
I have no doubt it is incredibly quick round the Ring, particularly if you a Timo Glock (or whatever he is called), Sean Edwards, or have all the gizmos switched on.

Reckon he'd have gone a bit faster again if only he'd picked a lid that fitted properly.Anyone know what all the downshift/rear wheel lock-up nonsense was about @ 15 secs?
