Struggling without a) making it sound flippant or b) over the top.

Dear (Manager),

Effective (8 weeks from the date of letter), I resign my position as (title).

I have enjoyed working here I wish you all the best for the future

Sincerely,

AB

Maybe it's just me but it sounds 'pissed off' and I'm not, it was a tough decision.

The wording of the letter doesn't matter that much and I'd say yours is fine.

If you want to stay on good terms tell your manager face to face what you wrote above, this is how you communicate that the decision was a difficult one.

Yeah, I plan to ask him for 5 mins in one of the meeting rooms and tell him face to face as I give him the letter.

Thanks.

It's always better to resign in person, then follow up with a formal resignation letter for your employment file.

Dear

Please accept this letter as formal notification that I am leaving my position as ABC with XYZ Company with effect from ** November 2012.

It would be appreciated if you could let me know what to expect with regard to my final work schedule, accrued leave and any residual employee benefits. [only include this if relevant]

I have thoroughly enjoyed working here and appreciate the opportunities and support I have been given. I wish you and the company all the very best for the future.

Sincerely

Puggit
