Just changed over to RS29, see photo below. The 2 dowels on the original pads, do these need to be transferred over to the RS29s. I did not want to force them off and damage them. Don't see the obvious reason for these dowels. Any ideas out there?

from memory they are mass dampers, help to reduce squeeling

+1, they're harmonic dampers.

Thanks guys, so I'll just run without them.

Reduction in unsprung weight......Porsche would charge an arm and a leg for those few grams.

I have RS29's on my GT2 and they squeal like a stuck pig. I can't imagine anything curing it, and the mass dampers on the OE pads work at the frequency occurence specific to that set-up, a change of friction level means you pretty much start afresh. i.e the mass dampers, shims, offset pressure shims, heat barriers mentioned above etc etc may or may not work, it's pot luck I'm afraid.

RS29 in general is very noisy in most applications, it doesnt have any anti-noise components as found in normal road pads - they were made for competition afterall.

The only sure-fire fix is earplugs.

Depends on application. I ran them on my CSL with PF discs and AP six pots, never a squeak despite using them very hard. Got them on the front of a the Manthey GT3 and it sounds more akin to a London bus.

I tried everything to cure the squealing when I had them in the GT2, I even had a set of harmonic dampers turned up and affixed them to the RS29s, didn't make any difference at all.
As jfp says, the HD are designed to work at the frequency that the standard pads naturally resonate at. Change the pad material and it's a whole new ballgame.

£4.50 each feller, used pagids for 9 years now and never a squeak, even on the Lotus, but hey what do I know.
