Perhaps its the electrons being forced back down the wire to the rear of the car

Seriously though, I would start checking in the pedal box. The brake lights are (certainly on mine) activated by a contact switch mounted on the drivers side of the pedal arm.

When the pedal is in its normal position, the switch is held open, and when the pedal is depressed the switch is allowed to close. Something could be fouling or distorting the arm or framework and allowing the contact to close when the accelerator pedal is full on.

perhaps......

A friend of mine has a similar problem with his Griff when he changes gear. After investigation, it turned out that he was just clipping the brake pedal slightly when he pressed the clutch in!

I had this happen when I took delivery of my new Chimaera. If it is not electrical then it is a simple adjustment next to the break pedal. Unfortunately I can't tell you what to look for as I was at the dealer when it was corrected.

My last griff did this.If yours is the same just wind the switch on the brake pedal in a bit. Its just a threaded switch.

I had this but it only happened under full throttle and then some. The switch on the brake pedal is adjustable but on my the adjustment was already maxed out.

The solution is to remove the switch, apply your right boot to the metal braket which holds it and refit the switch. Then test to make sure that they do actually work.

The other problem is that if you really welly it, the pedal box actually bends and the switch slips off the side of the pedal. The solution to this is to glue a small washer to the switch/pedal.

This will all make more sense if you locate the pedal switch (on the brake pedal) and examine how it fits and works.

Yep, been there.

Just replace the Brake light switch, but you might need a few washers to adjust it so it comes on at the right ammount of travel.

Mind you it was quite useful to get w*nkers off your bumper.
