Reliable fast(ish) car for around £5000

Hi,
What cars would people suggest for around £5000 that are reliable? Fast(ish) not too silly on juice say around 30mpg and again not too silly on insurance. Im 28 so anything up to a group 16/17 shouldnt be too bad.
My imdeiate thoughts are :
Civic Type R get a nice (54) 2005 50k'er (maybe better with a 65k plus as will have had more work done)? - ive had plenty of these so could sing these prases till the cows come home.
Seat Leon Cupra R - Talking similar year and mileage for the money although dont know much about these?
Skoda Octavia vRS - I know the skodas have a good reputation for being reliable and really its the same car as the seat underneath? Any good?

I had the same choice last year. I tried each of the cars on your list and went with the 330 as I felt the engine and chassis were the most fun for the sort of driving I do. Engine sounded the best and was a lot stronger in the mid range than the Honda. Skoda had similar pace to the Beemer for lower running costs but felt like less of an occasion. Civic would be best if you wanted to go on track as the BMW is a bit heavy feeling. BMW is similar on fuel to the civic but slightly worse than the Skoda, the maintenance costs are much higher on the BMW due to corrosion and weak suspension bushes.

Have a drive in the EP3, I did and didn't like it tbh. The steering was horrible, I bought a DC2 instead.
You can fit a DC5 rack into the Ep3 though to get proper hydraulic steering if that floats your boat.
You can get a Renault Sport Clio 197 for under £5k, I hear they are quite reliable.

Some other options that might appeal:
A 330ci is what ive got now, wouldnt go for the Alfa lovely cars but far to unreliable same for all the above photos.
Fiesta ST is too boy racer really (im 28), although i'd look at a cilo 197. A renualt reliable thou? My mate had a 182 cup that wasnt the best ill be honest.
