Don't suppose anyone could point me in the direction of someone that really knows Holley carbs?

All manner of running problems and parts left in the boot by previous owner suggest it needs some love. If they can set it up properly too that would be even better.

Even better still? They're in the Bucks/Berks/West London area.

Try Southern Carburetors. They specialise in SU's, Webbers and such like but a Holley uses the same principles as a Webber so should be able to sort it.

What car is it?

I would give Real Steel (Holley Agents) a call and ask if they can recommend anyone in your area.

The problem with Holleys is that everyone seems to have one for sale - most probably knackered. There are Holeeys and there are Holleys and generic type Holleys. I could suggest just going and buying a new one - the least expensive ones are generally the least suitable if only because that are less tweakable (like removable power valves, secondary main jets, four corner idle etc etc) Real Steel can sell you a universal one that may do the job - what car is it going on?

It's already on a '65 Mustang GT; car does not run at all well and we can't persuade it to either.

Previous owner left a rebuild kit in the boot so we suspect it's had problems for some time. As far as we can see the carb was fitted when he bought it ~22 years ago along with various other goodies.

Real Steel is 5 minutes away but not had a great experience with them so far, supplied lots of incorrect parts that NPD in Florida have got right first time (and cheaper).

Tell what the carb is (vac or mech secondaries) - post a photo - tell us the list no. off the carb - is the car manual or auto - stock or hot cam - waht is vacumn reading at idle?

Just buy a new one, they are poor at best anyway, we treat them almost as a service item! Try W.A.S.P. they are a good outfit who know their stuff and are great to deal with.

Thank you for the pointers; can't photograph it right now as car is at the bodyshop having its paint sorted out (paint seems to be done to a different standard over the pond!).

DrG, have you tried Phil K from the mustang forum who runs this company. I've not used him myself, but have spoken with him and read about those that have. He seems to know his stuff.
