Hi All,
Apologies if this has been covered before (am sure it has) but I need to get a temperature sender sensor for my VDO gauge as the needle never goes above 80 degrees (it as a 40 - 120 degrees C one) and am assuming the sensor has had it ???
Could anyone please confirm whether I need a specific ohms sensor or something and what the diameter will be ? Also where I can get one ?

Many Thanks for all your replies.

Regards

Ian

Have you tried VDO themselves, they appear to be still going and will probably tell you if there is more than one type and which one to look for.

The only difference I can see is between water temperature senders and oil temperature senders.

VDO senders appear to be available on fleabay for not much more than a tenner.

Thanks for your reply Russ.

I did have a look on the VDO website but could see one with a spade connector.
I will have a look on fleabay.

Mine never goes over 80 since I fitted a 3 row rad, are you sure it is actually faulty?

Hi ian..Get yourself a probe thermometer from craplins or the like, they are only cheap and put it in your expansion tank from cold and warm up the car. Dont rev the engine..once the gauge has reached its max check the thermometer..If the thermometer is higher than the gauge then the sender could be faulty but you will need to match the sender with the gauge or you will freaky out and thinking your cars about to explode...I will bring my laser thermometer saturday to check your temp and look for any cold spots.....Ziga

Thanks again for all the replies.
something isn't right because I remember when it boiled over earlier in the summer the gauge still only read 80C !
Mark (zigaziga), what do I have to match exactly ?
And Mark600 looks good, thanks, do tim have a website ?
Thanks again chaps
