Flywheel Step (how tall)
Discussion
Well from day 1 i had really bad clutch judder (strange being it was a new flywheel and clutch???) then at BNG after my many 170 to 185 MPH runs while idling with the clutch down the release bearing welded up wrecking the slave and ripping the fingers off the clutch. :-(
All rebuilt now but had to skim the flywheel as it had been machined on a slant (hence the judder). I told the machine shop to remove the same amount from both inner and outer surfaces (where the basket bolts to and where the friction plate meets) in theory keeping the step the same? With it all rebuilt i simply can't get enough throw to release the clutch fully. It is almost drivable but just not quite, so i am hoping it is as simple as the step being too high? I wish i had asked someone for the measurement beforehand and given this to the machine shop. Easy to look back at my stupidity now. So to bits it comes again.
TBH this is all temporary as at some point i want to put it on the correct LS bell-housing and a gearbox that isn't on borrowed time, but there are so many other bits I'd like to put right on it also/at the same time. If only i had my time again!
Off topic but how are things going with yours? Send me an email if you like.

I went to the workshop last week, and the good thing was that the car wasn't there. It was at the shop which makes the wiringloom for the engine to the KMS ECU, etc. I bought a bracketkit for the alternator and A/C pump. They wil switch sides, but it is a proven kit. Had to buy a new GM alternator also. A sixrib belt wil come on it. It took a long time before work began, but the holidays were between it. Previously I also bought a IACV and connector. My insurance is undertaking action and they did send an expert for a report. When the car is back from the loommaker, it is only needing a session on the rolers. But then I also stil have issues like you. Gearbox etc etc. How can someone make such a mess?
Sometimes it is hard to believe that you can only post positive things. The forum sohuld also be about warning other hardworking TVR owners. But rules are rules. In case of a negative posting with names, the argument is that the other party cannot react or readers cannot verify if it is true or not. In fact it is the same with positive posts. But in that case everybody is on the same post. Anyway, it is what it is and so we have to write emails when necessary. In my opinion it is ok to post something positive, but you also have to be sure it IS positive. If someone makes a mistake, but stands up for it, our "community" also needs to know this. It is important to know who can be trusted. Negative things.....well, it can hurt people. So if it is not right, it is not very nice. You also do not want a yes and no post that goes on and on. Difficult...
