Back in the fold

2 weeks back after selling my 450 8 years ago - now in a 500, 1998 Rosso Pearl having covered just 12k miles from new.
Strange phenomenon which I seem to recall happening the last time I owned one... it normally takes me 5 minutes to walk to M&S for lunch. Well, with the sun shining I decided to go in style, roof down, sun glasses in place and V8 burble behind
. How come it took me 25 minutes to get there? I don't recall there being a dual carriage way on route, when I walk, either

Sold the M3 November last year so not easy to compare. M3 goes about its business without any drama; its smooth and confident. Chimaera is raw, loud, bumpy, gear change less slick, doesn't feel as aero dynamic. It's a little quicker than the M3 but you can drive the M3 faster because it feels more planted.
Good work. Miss my humble 400. Agree with the planted thing but after a set of Racing Reds, and geo check and new tyres (once they were bedded in) it was much better.
In fact, its was so much better I started pushing a bit too hard and had to reign myself in a bit.
I've never considered buying the same car twice, personally, but the nature of TVRs means I bet no two feel the same.
Enjoy it.

My sentiment too until I saw this one. Was considering a Tuscan S but would have cost a lot more (hard to justify for a second car) and, as gorgeous as they are, just felt it was a little too exotic and possibly more complex\problematic if things go wrong. Would have considered a Grif (love the front, don't like the back) but again more money for what is essentially the same as a Chimaera. Classic sports car looks won the day.macca said:

Exactly where I was a year ago. Would have loved a Tuscan but Neil Garner scared me off buying one when he said 'keep 3 grand a year aside for maintenance'And you're spot on about the Griff....

Funny you say that .... saw a very nice 2002 Tuscan Mk1 for sale very close to where I live with 16,000 miles, 1 owner. No engine re-build. I mentioned it to Neil Garner when I dropped my Chim into him this week - he said exactly the same .... except he suggested keeping £6k plus aside just in case a re-build is needed. As he said, you could get it inspected and all looks perfect then a month or 2 later "bang". V8's are easiler to maintain, cheaper, sound a whole lot better, and IMHO will be the more collectable in future. On saying all that Neil's had to do a full re-build on my Chim500!!
Mist Blue is bar far the best colour .... and I've only ever seen one and it's mine
