As per the title really. We are renting a cottage in Marldon next week for 5 days, and would be nice to get some ideas from anyone who knows the area, or has been before.

Our son will be 2 1/2 in December and still has a long afternoon nap, so most thing will need to work around this. So we need to be somewhere buggy friendly in the afternoon, or morning activities so we get back for the afternoon.

I know its quite close to Dartmoor but guess thats not very 2 year old friendly.

Also things to do when its raining would be good. Hopefully it won't piss down the whole time we are there!

Secondly. PH question coming....

What car would you take out of:

a) 2006 Subaru Legacy R Sport Tourer. Nice drive, totally reliable. Tyres still very legal, but near enough to the limit and being replaced soon, but not before the trip.

b) 2002 LR Disco 130k. More family friendly space. Possible off road ability. Older higher miles means Ive got a higher chance of calling the recovery truck!

And would pick the same car if the forecast is pouring down all week?

Paignton Zoo, National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth, various adventure parks such as Woodlands, River Dart, Crealey. There's Waterworld or whatever it's called in Paignton. As already said, waling on Dartmoor or there are plenty of lovely beaches! Boat trips up the River Dart, steam train from Paignton (do the round Robin maybe?).

agreed - they are perfect for holidays. And any other local activities where a push chair is a pain.

Kent's Cavern in Torquay is very interesting, and I found Dartmoor Zoo (subject of the film "I bought a Zoo") to be a great day out - you get VERY close to the amimals at times.

Occombe Farm is near to you, and I'd imagine that some of the animals will be in at this time of year as well.

Specifically for the toddler - Rainbow Funhouse in Torquay is just up from Living Coasts and will be full of kids of a similar age. Torquay Museum is also worth a visit, and is slightly further up the road.

There is also one of those big wheel type things on Torquay sea front - it's the actual one that was in the Olympic Park recently.

Babbacombe Model Village will also appeal to a toddler as well, and nearby is Bygones Museum.

There is also a great new play park on Paignton Sea Front which kids will love.

Thanks everyone.

Here now, was raining to day so we went on the Steam Train to Dartmouth and back. He really enjoyed that.

The Kent Cavern thing is not really our thing, but still thank you. Tomorrow should be mainly dry and we thinking of going to Pennywell Farm.

The Zoo thing sounds very good too. Cockington Village is also on our agenda.
