currently looking at a non main dealer car, but considering getting an 111 point check on it before I purchase anything, am I pretty much guaranteed its a good car if it passes this check?

thanks

mmm.....I bought my RS from an OPC that had undergone a 111 point check. I had an independant inspection carried out (Peter Morgan) who found a few issues that had not been identified/addressed by the 111 point check. To be fair, the OPC did all the remedial work once the issues were raised with them. I suppose it depends upon the diligence of the person carrying out the 111 point check?

it's not worth much, but at least if it passes you can buy a porsche warranty for the car and for that it's worth it when buying 2nd hand.

If you're putting in your own car to get a warranty, do they force maximum wear levels on you for the consumables? Things like a minimum 3mm on tyres and sufficient tolerance on brake parts.

No guarantee. It's a bit like an MOT... a snapshot test of 111 specific things. It won't check for previous accident damage, for example.

But be aware that you have to own the car for 90 days before you can get the OPC warranty, at which point you'll need another check - and everything on the car will need to be standard - i.e. no non-porsche battery etc..

111 point check missed leaking rear damper which failed soon after, also recall to change DME unit for engine not done and missed on check. JZM sorted suspension + set up, they also noted and changed DME unit. Wouldn't rely on 111.

... and it's the very part of the car that most people want their warranty to protect more than anything else.

In my experience as a seller of an older car, they've been overly zealous, which I suppose is good from a potential buyer's prospective.

"Rear wiper blade squeaking" - £59 to fix etc. Add a few of those up and expect to get 3 grand off. Not from me, though.
