Eastbourne - best route down?

Hi folks,

Commuting to Eastbourne from NW Kent next week, any ideas on the quickest, least congested route down. Most common route finder result is either the Tunbridge Wells A228/A21/A267/A22 route or through Maidstone/B2162/A271/A259.

Avoid A22 as closed at Holmes Hill.

the route via A229 / A267) is quite a nice drive.

Holmes Hill is north of where the A267 meets the A22 at the Boship roundabout, so it shouldn't be an issue. Saying that, I'd avoid Tunbridge Wells at all costs and use the latter route too.

So A229 Staplehurst / Cranbrook/Hawkhurst then A265 etchingham / Heathfield and A 267 down through Hailsham?
