Mazda main dealer service " not happy"
Discussion
Had the wifes Mazda3 2.2 sport for a service today
i collected car,While sitting in traffic just had a look through bill
This engine require fully synthetic 5/30 c1 grade oil
The bill reads mobil 5/40 semi-synthetic oil on bill
I rang the dealer to express my concerns on what i thought wrong oil had been used.
There reply was, it's a clerical error and that a 20 year employee!! Mazda master tech done the service.
So this was to fill me with confidence,so i checked oil level,And it is about 10mm above full level.
What would you do!!!! drain oil and re-fill with the correct oil as i have little confidence in this dealer

My one and only experience of a Mazda main dealer was an unmitigated disaster. They broke my phone mount, lied about the work that needed doing, spilled brake fluid on the bodywork, and bent the headlamp covers (rookie mistake). Shoulda done it myself
My dad had a similar experience with a local Mazda dealer to him - they couldn't be arsed to do half the work he asked them to!

My mates son has had "issues" regarding mazda ...... service.
The importers are very nice and helpful, take pictures of the dipstick, contact them, see how you get on.
It isn't actually the end of the world though, and apprentices do make mistakes, although they shouldn't get through to the customer, you may find the dealer will rectify if you allow them to.

Thank's for the feed back,How ever if it were not for the oil counter needing resetting via a computer i would have gone no where near a main dealer.Ecutek are launching software for owners to do this themselves as well as re- mapping The importers are very nice and helpful, take pictures of the dipstick, contact them, see how you get on.

I had this cr@p with a Mazda dealer which isn't far off wetherby... Put it in for a simple oil/filter job on my 3MPS and they put 5/40 in instead of 5/30 and labelled it "Dex plus" (which turns out to be the name of their own brand oil). I didn't mind the grade change though, as the turbo seals are poor on these engines. I complained (not just for the oil) and apparently it was all a "computer error".

Try this ... Ignition off, Press and hold the trip reset. Switch on the ignition (Do not start the car). The display should count down 6 # symbols, when it reaches 0 release the reset and switch the key offI probably use the Newcastle dealer. There is only one, does Toyota Suzuki and Mitsubishi on the same site.
They were great when my car was under warranty and the MPS engine in the car blew a turbo. They gave me a loan car off the demo foeet, then argued with Mazda to supply me with an appropriate hire car. My car a CX7 was off the road for 5 weeks. They sorted me with a new Toyota Avensis estate as I needed a big car to carry stuff. Really good.
They have a mechanic there called Steve who when I picked the car up after the turbo change and had a few questions, came out to see me and with good humour showed me what they had done, and his grazed knuckles!
I bought the MX5 in Dumfries. Was going to get it serviced there but the Newcastle dealer beat them on price.
They do the odd dealer thing like trying to sell you expensive tyres, but when I had a problem with the brakes on the CX7r out of warranty, they offered a cheaper solution to fix it. As it was I got the cheaper solution even cheaper at an indy.

I had the same experience when my A4 TDI was serviced by an Audi dealer. I could tell by the price the wrong oil had been used (PD engines need a specific, more expensive, oil) but the dealer wouldn't accept they'd made an error until I contacted Audi Customer Service. Oil was drained and replaced with the correct grade and I was given a litre f.o.c. The dealership closed and I now use an excellent independent who tells me precisely what has been done and shows me any parts that have been replaced.
