Looking for something I can play an xbox on occasionally, would love a decent pic an all but don't want any of this 'built in wifi/freeview/3d' bo:censored;ks, just good pic and not much else.
Any one know of such a machine that they would recommend?

Currently trawling through gumtree, pinkbike an' ebay in case something catches the eye, but thought it would be easier to go looking for something if I knew what to look for.

Lookin' for something below £200 (so yes, second hand), and preferably 32". Just wondering if there's any clear leaders in this very budget category when it comes to decent looks as there are many up on gumtree for similar prices but I'm not sure if I'll be getting into trouble if I get a Sony Bravia, or Samsung etc.

Could you not just buy a cheap Full-HD 32" for that, rather than trying to get a decent condition second hand TV? I did that with a similar budget, and have been very happy with it as both my PS3's screen and my primary PC monitor.

I just sold a 32 inch Samsung for £150 which I primarily used for gaming, even had a little gaming mode to adjust the colour and frequency of the TV. No idea what the model was but it was a 2009 one I think and had a slight red tint around the rim of the plastic.

I'd go for a second hand Samsung, Panasonic or Sony if you can over something new but random brand.

The op should be able to get one cheaper than that.

hehe

Tbh I've been contemplating using it as a PC monitor but I'm not sure if 32" is overkill? Anyone used such a size for desktop work? Also, 1080px from 1200px seems a step down.

TBH Oakey I think it would I'm on 1680 x 1050 on a Samsung 22" beloved monitor + TV - one of the very best samsung monitors ever made
Ive connected a PC up to an LG 27" and that looked daunting and over powering so think a 32" will be bit too much - ok for HTPC etc if your sat away from it but by a monitor I assume you mean over it and think it will be too much

I have a HTPC connected to a new 32" Samsung 6 series which is fantastic for XBMC. Aria have a 24" Dell IPS monitor for under £200 which I almost bought yesterday to replace my current Dell 2405fpw but I held back and started considering the spare 32". Like you say though, I think it may be a little much.

Sorry, we're derailing the OPs thread now.

I went TV shopping with the GF on Saturday and picked up a 32" Technica HD with Freeview for £158 brand new. Bought it from Tesco who have an offer on at the moment. I believe even when not on sale they are only £190.

I have the same in the living room and my housemate has one in his bedroom. They are good screen quality for the price and the HD quality is good. The living room one is mainly used for the Xbox when the boys come round and it does the job nicely.
