Post interview advice please

I had an interview on Friday morning, which I think went well. The job is for a new role and the MD is not entirely sure how that role would function. We had a good chat about it and seemed to be on the same wavelength which was encouraging.

I am just a bit concerned that in discussing the role, and some of the potential issues, I haven't made it clear how much I want the job! Two or three candidates will be interviewed again so I may have a chance to put this right, but I would like to email him to thank him and say how excited I am at the prospect of working for him.

Would this show I am keen, and appreciative of his time or is this sort of thing best avoided? Thanks in advance

As long as it is short, professional and not 'gushing' the I think it is absolutely fine.

I am always ok with receiving post interview follow ups as it does show interest and a desire to be in contact.

Yes - professional and calm is good, if you reckon you can capture that tone.

Needy, desperate and stalkerish is not.

I wouldn't use the word "excited". Its an interview for a job, not a part in Glee

Ah, I've interviewed for a new role job too! If you are invited back for another interview it's a good sign! I'd do more homework during the second interview though and make sure I come prepared. Good luck!

I decided not to email him in the end. If there wasnt going to be a second interview I would have, but I know where I need to concentrate if I make it to the last 2 or 3.
