Hi All,

When's the new 2013 MINI Cooper S likely to be released? Or is it even 2013?

My parents need to replace their rather worryingly poorly 2007 Cooper S, they want to change it this year, but there's no point in changing for more of the same old problems as far as I can see, plus the same awful interior. I remember my 2003 Cooper S being a far superior machine.

2013 so not worth buying a current one. Will be a 3 cylinder. My current 08 MCS has been super reliable/economical/great to drive and having recently been in a 05 R53 with low miles and I can only totally disagree with u on the interior though...;)

Mid to late 2013, so a year. Current timeline according to Car is the Paceman in early 2013 and the F56 (hatch replacement) six months later. I'd make a guess that the power figures will stay similar to the current range no matter what engine configuration is under the bonnet. Interior is changing a bit, although the centre dinner plate remains as a styling theme: there's a mostly covered spyshot in this article http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/mini/mini/35649/mini-...
I've seen but can't find another photo where the switchgear that's currently the chrome toggles had been replaced by a bank of black BMW style rectangles. Shame as I actually quite like the toggles.

There was a facelift about 3 years ago from the silver to black switchgear. It works well, so is worth a look at the current range - MINI are doing several offers and specials to keep interest going. And there's always the run-out GP.

I'd think the Coupe and Roadster will continue for a while longer so if only a two-seater is needed then they could look at those.

The new mini's look rancid after the r53 far to big and chunky nothing like a classic mini. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder i guess wink

Get a facelift R56. Mine is a 2010 and is brilliant and faultless thus far. Ride is still st though!

That's what I find hard to forgive, the ride quality and noise of the tyres is not ideal. It's going to replace their existing 320Ci and 07 Cooper S, so it needs to be a good motorway cruiser too.

I'd push them towards a 1 series, but that looks like it fell from the ugly tree too! What are you doing to us BMW?!!

Are they still on run-flats? The current S is on normal tyres that are more compliant and quieter (only the JCW is run-flat by default).

Also, try a Clubman; the longer wheelbase gives a more leisurely ride.

It'd look like the MCS will start with the 4-pot before switching to the 3 cyclinder.

The R56 can be specced without run flats, I think its only the JCW that cant.
Having had a 2007 R56 cooper s and now a 2011 R56 cooper S without runflats I can tell you that the ride is far less crashy.

F56 should be launched to the public at the Paris motorshow next year, with deliveries starting around November/December as a 2014MY car.
